1 Day of iPhone
- Can't use modern web browsers
- Can't put icons wherever I want
- Can't expand dock bar (5+ icons)
- Can't customize icons
- Can't use useful gestures
- double tap to open notification
- Can't use a good keyboard
- Alternative works in some cases, but Apple takes over - for example - in password fields
- (See above) Can't type numbers and letters at the same time
- Requires taps to get numbers (!!!???) and then taps to get back to letters, EVERY TIME.
- Have to tap "Done" to unfocus / leave input field (What the fuck?!)
- Can't use feature-rich messaging apps (e.g. PulseSMS); Apple requires using Messages
- I can turn off iMessage to avoid routing every message through Apple's servers, but that's a very small improvement - it's still an instant messenger
- Can't seem to stop it from making "message sent" noise.
- This seems like it should be a setting, but it's one I haven't been able to find.
2 Days of iPhone
- Screenshots are INSANELY easy to take, and I have to delete 5-15 screenshots per day
- Gestures continue to be awful
- Getting around is awful
- The only way I can figure out to find certain things is by searching for it (what?!) or by finding it in the "recent" stuff in the right-side pull drawer.
- Momentum scroll seems to be arbitrarily limited to a "faster than usual" scroll
- Getting through long or infinite lists is a massive pain because it seems to be something like "3x a finger swipe" and that's the maximum speed. I can't add momentum by swiping more.
3 Days of iPhone
- Gestures are still garbage
- Back tap (I'm using home and app list) helps slightly, but it's
very extremely unreliable, to the point of being useless
- Can't add useful links to home screen
- Video call partner
- Partner's maps location
- Icons to any app intent, basically
- So many ads, I've never seen more ads, even when I was using the phone from the ad company
- App store search is always full page ad (always unrelated to my search)
- Have to unlock EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. the screen turns off
- This is essentially the epitome of "security" over utility
- Phones that are actually smart have nuanced algorithms that leave it unlocked as long as it's still on your body, you've set it on a surface, etc.
